Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club


With the Property Owners Association (POA) preparing to spend money on capital improvements, they wanted a way to accurately estimate the required improvements, as well as to maintain them once the work was completed. NewWaveGeo designed a geodatabase for Harbour Ridge's asset data and created a custom ArcPad application to support the field data collection of its assets. Field crews collected data for culverts, street lighting, hydrants, and the irrigation system. With the data in the new geodatabase, the POA was able to track inspection and maintenance activities over time, enabling better decision making and cost estimation for repairs. Using the GIS, the POA now knew how many pull boxes existed and how long the culverts where that needed to be repaired. To facilitate the bid process of the capital improvements, NewWaveGeo assisted the POA by creating bid package maps which contained detailed information about the assets, allowing contractors to easily estimate the work.

KLD Engineering


KLD uses an in house software product called DYNEV that models and generates emergency evacuation time estimates. In DYNEV, evacuation routes are represented by geometric polylines also known as links. These links store valuable information about the route being evacuated such as speed, vehicles discharged, number of vehicles per lane mile, level of service, and percent of vehicles evacuated. The data generated from DYNEV can be stored in either a text or an Extensible Markup Language (XML) format. However, this format is not directly compatible with the ESRI and must be processed through a series of steps. NewWaveGeo created a custom ArcMap tool to convert the XML format into shapefiles that could be used for animation of the emergency evacuation model. The animation was done using a custom traffic animation tool created for ArcMap which allowed for the selection of various attributes in the data to control the animation effects.

Confidential Damage Assessment Company


NewWaveGeo was hired by a damage assessment company to provide consulting and application development services. Over an extended period, NewWaveGeo transformed the ArcGIS for Windows Mobile application from a fledgling to a feature-rich product. Using Visual Studio (C#), NewWaveGeo extended to the mobile application to create an extensible framework by adding plug-in support which allowed in-house and 3rd party developers to quickly and easily add new functionality that integrated with the application.

By creating a new plugin, developers could create and add new tools for custom data collection to the damage assessment application. The application is standalone, meaning users can install it locally or even run it from a USB drive. Wanting and needing to the deploy the application quickly, and to many users, NewWaveGeo created an update process which allows the application to update itself. When new application files, plugins , configuration updates, or data packages are posted, the application recognizes this and alerts the user. Users can select to update or continue without updating, minimizing the transfer of data over slow wireless connections.

Managing the application and installation packages is performed using an administration application created by NewWaveGeo. Administrators can enable or disable plugins, create custom searches and add custom map services or tile packages to the application. The application allows the adminitrators to post applications and updates, which can be remotely downloaded and installed by users authorized in the system. The application is in use by many government agencies across the US and internationally to assist in hurricane, tornado, wild fire, and other emergency management operations.
